The Drama Factory is back!

Well hello everyone! It's been a while........two years to be exact. I have been busy creating lots of new projects. It was great but I missed teaching and having fun with my Drama Factory students, so now we are back up and running. Classes are now every Wednesdays from 18h till 19h. Well, just a quick note to say that this term has got off to a flying start!

The Monday group is working on the poem The Jabberwocky by Lewis Carol.

The Tuesday group are working on the theme of the homeless and both shows are going to be great!


Many thanks to all for your support and attendance for the Xmas shows. Does anyone have a photos?

May I also send a big get well soon for Paddy who is currently in hospital having had his appendix out.

(6) The Drama Factory

Welcome back everyone!

Summer is behind us and everyone is back to school, but have you sorted out your after school activities?

The Drama Factory is taking new students, so if you are interested in theatre, love role play and improvising, expressing yourself through music and games, then sign up for the classes.  It's not too late!

The Young Drama Factory students will start back on the Monday 30th Sept 2013 @ 17.45 and the Older Drama Factory students will start back on Tuesday the 1st October 2013.

Can't wait to see you all again!!!

I can't believe that the end of term is nearly upon us!

The Monday group (6-9 years) will be performing their wonderful adaptation of the Greek Myth, Persephone.

A beautiful story of how a Mother's love and determination saves the day!

Performance date:  10th June @ 17.30  Carrer Portal Nou 30.  Barcelona.

The Tuesday group ( 10-14 years) will be performing our end of term show The Black Spots v The White Spots.

This is a devised play, inspired by Bugsy Malone, but with our very own Drama Factory touch.


We have Gangsters, we have speakeasies, we have singing, we have dancing, and we have a lot of fun acting to show you.

Everyone is welcome.


Tuesday 11th June @ 19h.  Carrer Portal Nou 30.  Barcelona.

We also have an end of year picnic in the Ciutadella Park on the 8th June.  We are meeting at the mail gates by Arc Triumf at 14h.

Happy 2013!  The Drama Factory returns with lots of ideas and projects for this year!

I would like to congratulate every one of The Drama Factory students, each performance was wonderful.  I was very proud of you all!

10 years of The Drama Factory. Article in Metropolitan Magazine, Barcelona

Hi All!


We have started the term really well and I have two fantastic groups!
The last two sessions have been about getting to know each other and playing theatre games.
Lots of music and movement for the younger group too!



With the the older group we also played lots of games and the group's portrayal of a Swiss army knife was one of my favourites of the month so far!!!  Then we moved on to making short scenes, using Edward Hopper paintings as inspiration.  They did some really good work!  I was amazed how well they captured the atmosphere of some of those paintings!

HAPPY 10TH BIRTHDAY DRAMA FACTORY!!

Thanks to all those past and present students who gave up their free time to come along for the photo shoot!  It was so good to see you all.  Some of you who came to The Drama Factory when it first started 10 years ago!  Check out those 17 year olds!!!

NEW LOCATION!!!!

This year The Drama Factory will be running the classes in a new space in Ciutat Vella.

I am very excited to start the year here.  Check out the map!  Carrer Portal de Nou 30.

Classes start on Monday 1st October 2012 at 18h for the young group (6-9 year olds)
Tuesday 2nd October 2012 at 18h for the older group (10-15 year olds)

Ted Hughes The Tiger's Bones Performance In June!

Hello All, well it's been a while since I posted on The Drama Factory Blog, so here is an update of our news.  We are coming up to the end of term performance and rehearsing like mad.  The group will be performing Ted Hughes's The Tiger's Bones.  This play was originally written in 1974 for the radio, but still is a poignant today as it was then.  We will be performing on Thursday 21st June at 19.00.  Students need to be at class at normal time of 18.10.

Well despite the Generalitat closing all schools in Barcelona on Thursday afternoon due to the phantom snow scare, kids still turned up for Thursday's Drama Factory class. Hurray!

We played Mood Party and laughed a lot!

Then we moved on looking at personal characteristics such as lazy, dizzy, super positive and playing those characteristics while following simple objectives.

A simple shoe shop became a very vibrant shop with some very peculiar customers and shop keepers!!

Next week we will start to look at a play I have in mind for our summer show.

Wrap up now.....that phantom snow may well be coming....

October classes to begin

Hello all!

I hope you have all had a great holiday and rest, and are raring to go to begin the 2011 2012 year at The Drama Factory. I have been editing a video of our last few shows, and will hang it up in the next couple of days.

Fantastic Mr Fox

The Monday group (younger group) did a wonderful performance of their own adaptation of Roal Dahl's Fantastic Mr Fox.

Mask Work last term

A few images from the Thursday (older) group, who showed their masked Commedia Dell'Arte project work work. We worked on various stock characters from the Italian Commedia Dell'Arte including, Il Capitano, El Dottore, Arlecchino and Pantalone. Well done group!

Great fun was had by all.

News

Hi all, it's been a while since I updated the page, due to being super busy.

The Monday class is doing really well and we are thinking about what we can do for our spring project. We have a new student, so welcome Sammy!!!

Thursday's group are also doing really well, and we have been working on status games and master servant improvisations. As the hour goes by so quickly we are discussing the possibility of extending the class by half an hour. Please let me know your thoughts on this.

Hello again!

Students in the Thursday group, please feel free to write to me with any ideas or activities you have that you would like to do in the class. If you can write them to me at info@thedramafactory.com before Thursday's class, but no later than 15.00 on any Thursday,

I will try and incorporate it into the class, either for this week, or next.

Sometimes it feels like we always run out of time during class time. This way, I can hear your ideas and plan them into the class without losing valuable class time.

Also please put your thinking caps on for our Christmas show. Any ideas are very welcome.
